And, we’re up!

Finally, things have settled down, and we’re up and running. It’s very exciting. Last weekend, something like 200 people came and visited the site. Mostly searching for houses, and hundreds of houses were viewed. This is what we were hoping for! I hope someone found the perfect beach house this weekend searching on our site. Consider registering with us, so you can save your searches for the future. Also, we’re considering including a way to share or link to a specific search – not a specific property, but the entire search. If there’s interest, please comment!
For the most part, things seemed to work pretty smoothly, but there were certainly a couple glitches, but we’ve gotten most of it ironed out at this point. If you’ve had any problems, please feel free to email us: Info@Vacation-OBX.com
In the mean time, we’re hoping to beef up our static content with more interesting things to do and see at the Outer Banks, and create a section that allows you to invite others to participate in the planning process – that’s still a work in progress, though.
Otherwise – thanks for everyone’s support!READ MORE
We’re Almost Ready to Launch!

It’s finally here. I’ve talked about it for years. A federated Outer Banks rental search page.
Did you know there are more than 20 rental companies on the Outer Banks? When I first started this project, I didn’t.
When my wife and I were looking for a pair of houses, side-by-side, to use for our friends and family at our wedding, we were shocked at how difficult it was to find. We were getting married in March – not exactly the high season – and we would call property managers, and ask about adjacent beachfront houses. Some had some. Some had some that weren’t the right size (not enough bedrooms). Others had some that weren’t beachfront. Others had some that weren’t in the right area for where we were looking. It was tough, and it was frustrating. So many of the properties are side-by-side and for rent, but finding and correlating properties to locations to addresses to find the right match was tough – really tough. We were planning a wedding – and this was just more stress.
Then two years in a row, our rental home on the Outer Banks in Nags Head went vacant the week after the Fourth of July. Vacant! During the peak of summer! I KNOW that someone was looking for a house that week. They just couldn’t find it.
I wondered why there was no directory listing of all the properties for rent on the Outer Banks. There are so many rental companies. There are so many houses. There is so much demand.
I decided I would create one. And here it is. Take a look at the inventory and search tools. Find the property you want, contact the rental company, and book your OBX Vacation.
It’s still a work in progress in many ways, but I think it does a fair job of getting you started on finding the right place. Feedback welcome. Happy Hunting.
